ADVANCING TO CHAMPIONSHIP
POINT SYSTEM: A team will be awarded 2 points for a win. If a game ends in a tie (and a pool play game can end in a tie) each team will be warded 1 point. There are NO extra innings in pool play.
The point system will be used to determine position in the standings.
- Head-to head competition. This applies when only 2 teams are tied in points.
- Run Differential (12 run maximum for the purpose of this rule- no game can be decided by more than 12 runs. When 3 or more teams are tied, we will use run differential to position the teams in the standings. We will not revert back to head-to-head competition unless teams have the same run differential.
A team that forfeits a game is NOT eligible for the championship. The forfeit score for purposes of run differential etc… is 7-0.
- Runs allowed
- Runs scored
- Coin flip
Cub and Bantam games are 6 innings in length. Grasshopper games are 7 innings in length.
TIME LIMIT is no inning can begin after 2 hours – HOWEVER there is no time limit in the championship game. Mercy rules still apply.
Mercy Rule: If a team that has batted 5 times is down by 10 or more runs the game is over. However, if the visiting team opens up a 10 run lead in their half of the inning (6th inning or later) the home team must get their time at bat.
If there is rain or darkness, the game is official after the losing team bats 4 times. If it rains or becomes dark before the game becomes official, the game will be suspended at that point and continued.
