Well, it doesn’t hurt to think ahead. Here are some thoughts on where we’re headed.
Firstly, we want to let you know that we’ve entered a partnership with the Williamsburg Youth League and the Brooklyn Baseball League. By pooling teams we gain a better ability to schedule teams against a wider variety of teams within a given skill level. Strong teams will be more likely to play other strong teams and average teams can play each other. Also, this helps teams with specific schedule needs. It will be easier for us to find teams available to play at certain days and times.
So, when might any of this happen? At this point we are targeting May 30. Hey, it doesn’t hurt to have a target. It would be a Summer League starting in June.
That single price? It will be reduced. Teams that have already paid $350 will be refunded. Our big expense is the All-Star games and Championship games at MCU Park. We are thinking of eliminating these events in 2020. We expect the economic fall-out from the pandemic to effect teams and we would rather lower our costs so that all kids can play baseball this summer. Our league fee would be $175. Additionally, our friends at MCU Park are dealing with their own issues during this trying time. We don’t want to promise events and collect high registration fees for events that may no longer be available to us.
We will still have playoffs and championships in the Summer. We will use the nicest sites available to us and crown champions. As always, our schedules will be tailored to the needs of the teams and every team will be able to play at least half of their games at their home field.
